BUG: 1394 Host Controller Power Management Capabilities Are Incorrectly Reported (328538)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Driver Development Kit (DDK)
This article was previously published under Q328538 SYMPTOMSIn Windows XP, you can set one of the 1394 host controller's
Power Management options to Allow this device to bring the computer out
of standby. However, if you select this check box, the system can be
put in an unreliable state if a 1394 power setting capable node tries to bring
the computer out of standby. CAUSE Under Windows XP, 1394 Wait/Wake capability is not fully
supported by the 1394 host controller drivers OHCI1394.SYS and 1394BUS.SYS. The
1394 host controller's Power Management option to Allow this device to
bring the computer out of standby was incorrectly made visible to
users. RESOLUTIONTo prevent the system going into an unreliable state, clear
the Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby
check box. With this option cleared, even if a 1394 power setting capable node
is connected to the bus and tries to bring the system out of standby, the 1394
host controller ignores the request. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft
products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
