The Set Program Access and Defaults Feature Is Not Available in Windows 2000 Server (327883)

SYMPTOMS

You may experience any of the following symptoms if you are using Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3):
  • The Set Program Access and Defaults feature does not appear in Add/Remove Programs.
  • The Set Program Access and Defaults link does not appear on the Start menu.
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook Express, and Microsoft Windows Media Player shortcuts and file and protocol associations are not removed when you use the IEAccess=Off setting, the OEAccess=Off setting, or the WMPOCM=Off setting in a [Components] section of an Unattend.txt file (this file is used for an unattended installation or it is used with Sysocmgr.exe after Setup).

CAUSE

These features are only available on Windows 2000 Professional-based computers that are running SP3 or later.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
