XCON: Admin and Routing Group Are Displayed as "Unknown" After You Rename Them (327787)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

This article was previously published under Q327787

SYMPTOMS

After you rename the Admin group or the Routing group (or both), the Connected Routing Groups information may display the routing group as "unknown." Therefore, mail destined to this routing group through an X400 Connector may not transfer, and this mail may back up in the X400 Pending Routing queue.

In this case, you may have to manually reconfigure the Connected Routing Group on the X400 Connector to select the new Admin group name or Routing group name.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, reselect the new name of the routing group on the Connected Routing Groups tab to allow mail to again flow properly.

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Expand Administrative Groups, expand First Administrative Group, expand Routing Groups, and then expand the routing group that contains the non-functioning X400 Connector.
  3. Expand the Connectors container, right-click the connector to be changed, and then click Properties.
  4. Click the Connected Routing Groups tab, and then make sure that the correct connected routing group is listed. Click Modify, and then reselect the connected routing group (if it is no longer selected).
  5. Click OK to save these changes.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
