SYMPTOMS

When you use the speech-recognition feature in an Office program, you may receive the following error message

When you view the data in the error report, the report contains an error signature similar to the error listed at the beginning of this article.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if speech recognition does not recognize the command that you want to apply.

RESOLUTION

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, turn off all dictation-mode commands.

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Language bar, click Tools.

    If the Tools command does not appear on the Language bar, follow these steps:
    1. Click the Options arrow at the rightmost area of the Language bar.
    2. Click to select Speech Tools.

      The Tools command appears on the Language bar.
    3. On the Language bar, click Tools.
  2. Click Disable Dictation Commands.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem with the Windows XP operating system.
