SUMMARY

Microsoft Outlook and Exchange 2000 maintain many folders and properties to support the complex operations that make Exchange 2000 a rich messaging and collaboration server program. This white paper describes the folders that Outlook 2002 creates in the Exchange 2000 mailbox store. You can view several of these folders when you use Outlook; however, a majority of the folders support functionality that you do not directly control. Although you cannot see these folders in Outlook, you can see the folders if you use the Exchange 2000 Database View tool, Mdbvu32.exe, which is available on the Exchange 2000 CD. If you are an administrator, you can use the Mdbvu32 tool to view or remove hidden folders in Exchange 2000 mailbox stores. For example, you can remove hidden folders if temporary files in the folders cause mailbox stores to get too large.

Topics Included in This White Paper

  • Mailbox creation in Exchange 2000
  • Folder structure in an Exchange 2000 mailbox
