SYMPTOMS

When you play a multi-bitrate video on a Macintosh player, the video is garbled and appears as large boxes or is washed out in green.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This behavior occurs when all of the following conditions are met:
  • You are using the Macintosh player.
  • The content uses the Windows Media Video v8 codec.
  • The content is multi-bitrate.
  • One of the multi-bitrate audience bitrates is 80 kbits or above.
