Session Summary

This is the second in a two-part series of presentations that discusses how to program the COM+ services in Visual Basic 6.0 to develop and implement enterprise applications.

In this session, we will discuss some of the new services provided by COM+. The focus will be on using Visual Basic 6.0 to develop applications for these new services. We will begin with a discussion of synchronization and object pooling. We will also discuss the new MSMQ Queued Components and the new Event Services that provide loosely-coupled events. With all the COM+ features covered, we will then discuss design considerations when creating components for COM+. This discussion will be followed by a discussion of debugging COM+ applications in VB 6.0. Finally, we will discuss deploying COM+ applications.

This is a Level 200 session that was recorded September 1, 2000 and presented by Robert Pajaro. Robert Pajaro joined Microsoft in July 1999. He is currently a Developer Support Professional for the VB Web Data group. Before Microsoft, Robert worked as a developer and a support professional in the industry.
