Session Summary

In this session, we will discuss how to work with Microsoft Access 97 and Microsoft Access 2000 on the same computer. The installation programs for Access 97 and Access 2000 install to the same default directory. When any components of Office 2000 are already installed on a computer and Access 97 (or any component of Microsoft Office 97) is installed to the same folder, this may result in what we call mismatched dynamic-link library (.dll) files. Access 2000 and Access 97 use files that have the same name, however, the setup programs install different versions of these files. This session will serve as a guide to best practices to use when installing both versions on the same computer.

This is a Level 100 session that was recorded March 13, 2001 and presented by Jannette M. Atiles. Jannette M. Atiles is a support professional on the Access team in the Product Support Services (PSS) Developer Support organization. She joined Microsoft in 1999 and has a degree in Management Information Systems. Jannette started working with Access in 1997 and has over seven years experience working with relational database environments at the enterprise level.
