Session Summary

How does Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) know what data to collect, which events are important, when to generate an alert, and what responses to generate? In this session, you will learn how MOM uses management packs to provide the rules that MOM will implement at its managed nodes, controlling what data is reported, alerted, and responded to.

This is a Level 200 session that was recorded June 14, 2001 and presented by Wally Mead. Wally Mead has been with Microsoft for nine years. He started in the training organization, where he delivered training on LAN Manager. He began working with SMS in 1994, and has been involved in the development and delivery of all SMS training courses for Microsoft. He now works for the SMS product group in the Early Adopter Program (EAP) group, and provides training for EAP members.
