Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services is required for Portfolio Analyzer.

The Analysis Services component is included in the following SQL Server editions:
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Personal Edition
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition
NOTE: Analysis Services can be installed on a computer other than the Microsoft Project Server computer; however, the Decision Support Objects component of Analysis Services must be installed on the Microsoft Project Server computer.

To install SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services, follow these steps:
  1. Insert the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 CD in the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
  2. On the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 page, click SQL Server 2000 Components.
  3. On the Install Components page, click Install Analysis Services.
  4. On the Welcome screen, click Next.
  5. Click Yes to accept the license agreement.
  6. On the Select Components screen, click to clear all the components except Decision Support Objects and Client Components, and then click Next.

    NOTE: To view Portfolio Analyzer reports over an extranet, click to select Analysis server and Analysis Manager.
  7. Click Finish.
  8. Reinstall SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 2.
NOTE: A Microsoft Office XP client access license is required for administrators to have full interactivity of Office XP Web Components to create Portfolio Analyzer views.

A non-interactive mode of Office XP Web Components is included with Microsoft Project Server. With these components, users can expand PivotTables, filter information by using drop-down lists, and perform other basic operations in the Portfolio Analyzer view. However, they cannot add new fields or relocate fields in the control.
