"Installer Is No Longer Responding" Error Message When You Remove SFU 3.0 from Windows 2000 (322722)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to remove Windows Services For UNIX 3.0 (SFU) from a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000, you may receive the following error message:
Installer is no longer responding.

CAUSE

The Windows Installer engine does not process incoming windows messages frequently enough. Because of this, COM calls are not processed in a timely manner.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain and install the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information about how to do so, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The English version of this Windows 2000 fix should have the following file attributes or later:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem was corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
