November 2003, Hewlett-Packard and PeopleSoft conducted a benchmark in Houston,
Texas to measure the online performance of PeopleSoft Financials 8.4 with
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 3a (SP3a) and QFE 856
on a Hewlett-Packard ProLiant DL740 database server that was running Microsoft Windows
2003 Enterprise Edition. The
benchmark measured client response times for a single user, 4,000, 7,000,
10,000, and 13,000 concurrent users by using a standard 'small' data composition
model. The testing was conducted in a controlled environment when no other
applications were running. Tuning changes were approved by PeopleSoft Development
