BUG: Cannot Update CPU Database During Combination Plug-In Installation (319862)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install the Windows CE Platform Builder 3.0 Combination Plug-In for SH3-DSP, SH4T, and MIPS IV processors, you may receive the following error message at the end of the installation:
Error attempting to update the CPU database for Platform Builder 3.00.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you install Platform Builder to a folder other than the default installation folder.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, reinstall Platform Builder 3.0 to the default installation folder:

C:\Program Files\Windows CE Platform Builder\3.00

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
