"The Active Directory Property Cannot Be Found in the Cache" Error Message Occurs When You Retrieve "Mail" and "MhsORAddress" Attributes (319192)

SYMPTOMS

If you try to retrieve mail attributes and mhsORAddress attributes from a third-party Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) directory, you may receive the following error messages:
The Active Directory property cannot be found in the cache.

-and-

Can't convert from native data type.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because DsClient for Windows NT 4.0 does not recognize a syntax of 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.33 (LDAPTYPE_CASEIGNORESTRING); therefore, it cannot retrieve attributes that use this syntax. Because Microsoft Windows 2000 does not use this syntax for attributes that are defined in the Active Directory schema, this problem is only likely to occur when you try to access third-party LDAP directories.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.

When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
