Device Manager Prints an Incorrect Total/Free Disk Size in the Resource Summary Report (318690)

SYMPTOMS

When you print the Resource Summary report by using Device Manager, the total and free disk sizes may be incorrect for some of the disk drives. If your disk drive partition is larger than 4 gigabytes (GB), the printed report may show the incorrect total and free size for that disk. If the disk partition is smaller than 4 GB, the printed report shows the correct total and free size for that disk.

CAUSE

Device Manager is using an incorrect string format to print the large (64-bit) disk sizes.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
