OL: How to Delete and Re-create a Calendar Folder (318656)

SUMMARY

If the Calendar folder has become corrupted and unusable, you may need to delete and re-create the Calendar folder. This article describes how an Exchange Administrator can back up the Calendar data to a personal folders (.pst) file, and then delete and re-create the Calendar folder.

How to Delete and Re-create a Calendar

To delete and re-create a calendar, follow these steps:

1. On a computer that has a profile created for the user, create a folder named MDBVU, and then copy the following files from the Support\Utils\I386 folder that are located on the Microsoft Exchange Server compact disc:

   Mdbvu32.exe
   PropVu32.dll
   StatVu32.dll
   TblVu32.dll
   XvPort.dll

2. Back up all of your Microsoft Outlook folders to a .pst file. For additional information about how to back up Outlook folders, click the article numbers below to view the articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

3. Exit Outlook if it is running.
4. Open the MDBVU folder, and then double-click Mdbvu32.exe to start the program.
5. In the MAPILogonEx dialog box, click OK.
6. Click the profile that you want to configure, and then click OK if you receive the prompt for a profile selection.
7. The MDB Viewer Test Application dialog box appears.
8. On the MDB menu, click OpenMessageStore.
9. From the list of message stores, click Mailbox - user's friendly name, and then click Open.
10. On the MDB menu, click Open Root Folder. A new dialog box that contains three columns appears.
11. In the Child Folders column, double-click Top of Information Store.
12. In the Child Folders column, double-click Calendar.
13. Select all items in the Messages in Folder column.
14. In the Operations Available drop-down menu, click LpFld > DeleteMessages
15. Click Call Function, and then click OK.
16. Click Close.
17. In the Child Folders column, click Calendar.
18. In the Operations Available drop-down menu, click IpFld->DeleteFolder, and then click the Call Function button.
19. Click OK.
20. In the MAPI_FOLDER - Top Of Information Store dialog box, click Close.
21. In the MAPI_FOLDER - Root dialog box, click Close.
22. On the MDB menu, click Store Logoff, and then click OK in the IpMDB- >StoreLogoff() dialog box.
23. On the Session menu, click Session Logoff.
24. On the Session menu, click Exit to close the Mdbvu32 file.
25. Start Outlook with the outlook.exe /resetfolders switch to rebuild the calendar. For example, click Start, click Run, in the Open box, type the following

    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OUTLOOK.EXE" /resetfolders

    and then press ENTER.
