NHL 2002 or FIFA 2002 Cause an Error Message in Windows XP (318421)

SYMPTOMS

When you are running the Electronic Arts NHL 2002 program or the Electronic Arts FIFA 2002 program, you may receive the following error message:
Explorer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you view the data that the error report contains, you may receive the following error signature information: 
   App Name      App Version  Module Name  Module Version  Offset
   ----------------------------------------------------------------
   Explorer.exe  6.0.2600.0   Ole32.dll    5.1.2600.0      000f3b57

CAUSE

This issue may occur because the NHL 2002 and FIFA 2002 programs are not completely compatible with Windows XP.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, obtain and install the most current Windows Compatibility Update from the Critical Updates section of the following Microsoft Web site:

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
