INFO: Proxies Are Automatically Bypassed for Local Addresses in Pocket PC 2002 (318398)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows CE for Pocket PC 2002

SUMMARY

Microsoft Pocket PC includes a check box in the Internet Options dialog box of Microsoft Internet Explorer to bypass proxy settings for local addresses. However, Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 does not include the Bypass proxy for local addresses check box because the browser handles this automatically.

MORE INFORMATION

Because URLs that do not include a period (.) are considered to be local or intranet addresses in Pocket PC 2002, the browser automatically bypasses the proxy settings for these URLs. For example, the following URL bypasses the proxy settings because this URL does not contain any periods:

http://blueyonderairlines

In Pocket PC 2002, the proxy settings are moved from Pocket Internet Explorer to Connection Manager.
