SYMPTOMS

Messages that cannot be delivered may stay indefinitely in the Exchange 2000 Server queues without generating a non-delivery report (NDR).

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 3.

MORE INFORMATION

After you apply this fix, a message that cannot be delivered either generates an NDR or is placed in the Badmail queue (as appropriate) after the message expires.
