OL2000: Outlook Stops Responding When You Try to View a Calendar (318305)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

This article was previously published under Q318305

SYMPTOMS

When you try to view a Calendar, Outlook 2000 may stop responding. Outlook 2000 stops responding because the Calendar that you are trying to view may have a recurring meeting that has corrupted data in the First Day of Week field.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because a problem in Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) causes the corrupted data to be placed in the reoccurring meetings. This problem was fixed with a CDO fix in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

281935 XADM: CDO Can Corrupt Data in Recurring Appointments

The fix in the previously mentioned article masks the loop and permits you to have access to the Calendar while providing you with the time to install the fix on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
