You Are Not Able to Import a Web Part Gallery from a SharePoint Portal Server (318236)

SYMPTOMS

You may not be able to import a Web Part that resides on a SharePoint Portal Server.

After you set up a Corporate Web Part Gallery on your SharePoint Portal Server, if you go to another SharePoint Portal server and download a Web Part from the gallery, the Web Part may seem to be imported, but the files may be empty and named .htm, 2.htm, 3.htm, and so on.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:

NOTE: Because of file dependencies, this update requires Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001 Service Pack 1

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was first corrected in Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001 Service Pack 2.
