The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server SP1
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server SP2
  • Microsoft Outlook 2002

This article was previously published under Q318145

SYMPTOMS

In Exchange 2000 Server and Outlook, the received date and time of a message may not be displayed correctly.

This problem may occur if the following conditions exist:
  • The original message comes by means of Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) Internet e-mail.
  • The message is sent again by means of Outlook.
  • The message is then sent again to another mailbox that exists in a different storage group on the same Exchange 2000 server.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Exchange 2000 information store incorrectly preserves the date and time (PR_MESSAGE_DELIVERY_TIME) of the original message when a message is sent between users who are in different storage groups on the same Exchange 2000 server.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
