SUMMARY

This article explains how to change the default editor in Microsoft FrontPage 2002.

By default, FrontPage associates certain programs with certain file types. After an association exists between a program and a file type, FrontPage uses that program to open and edit files with that file-name extension. This program is known as the default editor. For example, the default editor that FrontPage uses for .xml files is Notepad. As a result, when you open an .xml file in FrontPage, the file is automatically opened in Notepad.

Use the procedure discussed in this article if you want to change the program that FrontPage associates with a given file type. By doing this, you change the program that FrontPage uses to edit files of that type. For example, you may want to change the default editor for .xml files from Notepad to WordPad.
