Cdir_ldp.exe May Delete Many Objects Unexpectedly (317744)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Metadirectory Services 2.2 SP1
This article was previously published under Q317744 SYMPTOMS
When you run the Microsoft Exchange LDAP management agent (MA), which uses Cdir_ldp.exe, many objects may be deleted unexpectedly if you are using Delta or Full mode. Additionally, the following error may be logged in the Zscript.log file:
Unable to read LDAP message (error -1)
CAUSE
This error occurs if network connectivity is lost during the discovery process. Before you install the hotfix that is described in this article,
the "Unable to read LDAP message" error is not marked as an error message.
Therefore, the %error% test condition that is located in the Mascript.scr file is not met after the "Execute Cdir_ldp.exe" statement and before the "Execute Importt.exe" statement. This allows the synchronization engine (Importt.exe) to run even though Cdir_ldp.exe has not successfully completed the discovery process against Microsoft Exchange Server.
