PRJ: How to Adjust the Project Start Date (317460)

SUMMARY

Sometimes you need to change a project's start date. If you do this by changing the date in the Project Start Date box in the Project Information dialog box, some tasks may not be rescheduled correctly in relationship to the new project start date. This article shows you how to adjust the date to move all tasks.

Tasks that are not linked are not usually adjusted when you change the project start date. To move the entire project so that all tasks move equally in relation to the new project start date, use the Adjust Dates feature of Microsoft Project. To do this, use the method that is appropriate for your situation.

NOTE: Before you use the Adjust Dates feature, you must remove any "% Complete" and "Actual Start" information from all tasks. By design, a task that has recorded progress will not be rescheduled.

Microsoft Project 98

  1. Open the project.
  2. On the Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click Macros.
  3. Click Adjust_Dates, and then click Run.
  4. In the Enter a new project start date box, type the new start date, and then click OK.

Microsoft Project 2000

  1. If the Analysis toolbar is not visible, point to Toolbars on the View menu, and then click Analysis.
  2. On the Analysis toolbar, click Adjust Dates.
  3. In the Enter a new project start date box, type the new start date, and then click OK.
