SUMMARY

The file upload technology known as the Posting Acceptor is no longer available. Support of the Posting Acceptor is limited to best effort only.

MORE INFORMATION

As of January 2001, no shipping method exists for the Posting Acceptor. The Posting Acceptor has been retired as a product. It is no longer available as a download through the Internet, nor is it included in any current product.

Users who require a file upload technology can use one of the following:
  • ASP.NET File Upload Control: Microsoft recommends this technology. The ASP.NET File Upload Control is based on the latest .NET technologies, and uses either Microsoft Visual Basic .NET or Microsoft Visual C# .NET.
  • Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV): WebDAV is based on industry standards, and allows users to upload and view files remotely.
  • FrontPage Server Extensions: FrontPage Server Extensions have long been used as an upload method for updating Web sites, and are available for Internet Information Server (IIS) versions 4.0 and later.
  • Third-party upload control: Many file upload utilities are available. You can use a search engine to find a list of options.
