GetComputerNameEx May Return an Invalid Response on a Cluster Server Node (315910)

SYMPTOMS

Calls to the GetComputerNameExW Win32 API may return an invalid response on a Cluster Server node. The API may always return TRUE even though the name was not returned.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
