SYMPTOMS

After you change permissions for the Exchange Domain Servers group, you may not be able to register Workflow Events.

This behavior occurs when you change permissions for the Exchange Domain Servers group as described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

RESOLUTION

Explicitly set "Receive As" permissions for the Workflow Event Sink account for each Microsoft Exchange Server that supports Workflow applications. This is a three-step process: identify Workflow sink identity, set Receive As permissions, and restart the Workflow Event Sink. Each of these steps is outlined in detail.

Get the Workflow Sink Identity

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Component Services.
  2. Expand the Component Services node, the Computers node, the My Computer node, and then expand the COM+ Applications node.
  3. Right-click Workflow Event Sink to view the properties.
  4. Click the Identity tab, and then make a note of the user name.

Set Receive As Permissions to the Workflow Sink Identity

  1. Start Exchange System Manager.
  2. Identify your server under the Servers tree. For each mailbox store on this server, follow these steps:
    1. Right-click the mailbox store, and then click Properties.
    2. On the Security tab, click Advanced.
    3. In the Access Control Settings for Mailbox Store dialog box, click Add.
    4. In the Select User, Computer, or Group dialog box, select the user name that you made a note of earlier, and then click OK.

The Permission Entry for Mailbox Store dialog box appears.
    5. Click to select the Allow check box for Receive As permission.
    6. Click OK until all of the dialog boxes are closed.

Restart Workflow Event Sink

  1. Expand the Component Services node, the Computers node, the My Computer node, and then expand the COM+ Applications node.
  2. Right-click Workflow Event Sink, and then click Shut Down. Wait for a few seconds.
  3. Right-click Workflow Event Sink again, and then click Start.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
