You Cannot Uninstall Norton 2001 After Upgrade to Windows XP (315336)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Add/Remove Programs tool to uninstall Norton 2001 after you upgrade your computer to Windows XP, you may receive an error message similar to one of the following:
Add/Remove Programs is unable to find the uninstallation files.

-or-

Cannot delete navshext.dll. Please make sure that the disk is not write protected or the files is not in use.

-or-

Uninstall could not complete the logfile c:\program files\navnt\navnt.lsu It is not valid or the data has been corrupted. Norton Integrator can not initialize the current frame class. Please make sure you did not run the integrator.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Norton 2001 uninstall files are corrupted or overwritten during the upgrade to Windows XP. When this occurs, Add/Remove Programs cannot complete the uninstall process.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, obtain and run the Norton System Cleaning utility, which removes all traces of any programs that you are otherwise unable to uninstall. For more information, browse to the following Norton Web site:
