SYMPTOMS
When you save or print a project, you may receive an error
message that is similar to one of the following:
Message 1
Pip has caused an error in PIPCORE6.DLL.
Pip will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your
computer.
If you click
Close, you may receive the following error message:
Pip has caused an error in MFC42.DLL. Pip will now
close.
Message 2
PIP caused an error in pipcore6.dll
PIP caused an error in pipcore7.dll
When you close this error message, you may receive the following
error message:
PIP caused an error in kernel32.dll
Message 3
If you click
Organize Gallery, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Error: Class not registered
When you close this error message, you
may receive one of the following error messages:
PIP
caused an invalid page fault in module pidocob6.dll
PIP caused an invalid page fault in module
pipcore6.dll
PIP caused an invalid page fault in module
podocob7.dll
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use the following methods in the
order that they appear.
Method 1: Test the Project for File Corruption
To test for file corruption, you have to open another
project. It is best to select one of the templates included with Picture It!.
In the new project, try to save, print, and add pictures. If the issue does
not occur in the new project, you should suspect file corruption in your
other file. If the issue does occur, continue to the other methods that are listed.
If the project file is corrupted, re-create the project.
Method 2: Remove and Reinstall Internet Explorer
Important Do not use this method if you are using Microsoft Windows XP. By
default, Internet Explorer 6 is preinstalled in all versions of Windows XP.

To help prevent interference from other
programs while installing, follow these steps:
- Create a folder on your desktop named Internet Explorer 6.
- Visit the following Microsoft Web site:
- On the Next page, click Download NOW, select your Language, and then click GO.
- Click the Download Internet Explorer 6 link, click Save, and then click OK.
- Click Save In:, click the Internet Explorer 6 folder on your desktop, and then click Save.
- When it says that the download is complete, click Close, and then minimize the window.
- Double-click the Internet Explorer 6 folder on your desktop.
- Locate and then double-click the Ie6setup.exe file.
- Accept the License agreement, and then click Next.
- Click Minimal or Customize your browser, and then click Next.
- Click FULL from the drop down menu, make sure all boxes below are checked,
and then click Advanced.
- Click Download Now, click OK, and then click Next.
- Click the Internet Explorer 6 folder on your desktop.
- Select the type of operating system for the installation,
and then click Next.
- Click OK.
Enable the Startup Menu
- Click Start, click Run, type MSCONFIG, and then click OK.
- Click Advanced, click Enable Startup Menu, and then click OK.
- Click OK, and then click No when you are prompted to restart your computer.
Rollback Internet Explorer
To rollback the original configuration and then install
version 6 in safe mode, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Select Microsoft Internet Explorer x.x & Internet tools, and then click Add/Remove.
Note The x.x represents the version number of Internet Explorer installed on
your system. - Select Restore the previous Windows
configuration, click OK, and then follow the steps.
- Restart when prompted.
- Throughout the starting process, when the Windows Startup Menu appears, press 3 to select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.
Note In safe mode, your video resolution is temporarily reduced to
the minimum settings, therefore, colors and sizes may seem unusual. This is typical and
will go back to the previous settings when you restart. - In Windows 98, a message will come up stating that you are
in Safe Mode, click OK.
In Windows Millennium Edition (Me), the safe mode
troubleshooter will start, exit it. - Double-click the Internet Explorer 6 folder on your desktop, locate and double-click the Ie6setup.exe file, and then follow the steps.
- When the installation is complete, restart and when the Windows Startup Menu appears, press 3 to select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.
Note You are returning to Safe Mode to allow the installation to
complete unimpeded. - In Windows 98, a message will come up stating that you are
in Safe Mode, click OK.
In Windows Millennium Edition (Me), the safe mode
troubleshooter will start, exit it. - Click Start, click Run, type MSCONFIG, and then click OK.
- Click Advanced, click to clear the Enable Startup Menu check box, and then click OK.
- Click OK, and then restart your computer as prompted.

How to Repair or Return to a Previous Internet Explorer Installation
If the Internet Explorer Repair Tool Verification does
not work, or if Internet Explorer 5.0 is not listed in the Add/Remove Programs
tool in Control Panel, you may be able to start the Internet Explorer
Repair tool at a command prompt. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK:
Note This command is case sensitive. rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt"
If you must replace a bad file from the original Internet
Explorer or Windows media, use either the System File Checker (SFC) tool or the
Extract tool to extract the file.

Method 3: Install the Latest Video Driver
You may be able to resolve this issue by downloading and
installing the latest video driver available for your video adapter.
Contact your video adapter manufacturer for information about how to obtain and
install the latest video driver for your video adapter.

Test to see whether the issue is resolved. If the
issue continues to occur, continue to the next method.
Method 3: Reduce Graphics Hardware Acceleration
To reduce graphics hardware acceleration, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click System.
- Click the Performance tab, and then click Graphics.
- Move the Hardware Acceleration slider one notch to the left of the current setting.
- Click OK, and then click Close.
- When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.
- Test to see whether the issue is resolved. If the issue
continues to occur, repeat steps 1 through 6 until you reach the None setting, or the issue is resolved.
If the Hardware Acceleration slider is at the None setting and the issue is not resolved, move the slider back to
the original setting.
If the issue continues to occur, continue to the next method.
Method 4: Remove the Program
To resolve this issue, remove the program, remove the folders,
and then reinstall the program.
Remove the Program
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Note If you are using Microsoft Windows XP, click Start, and then click Control Panel. - Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Double-click the Picture It! program that you want to
remove.
- Follow the instructions onscreen to remove the
program.
- If you are prompted to restart your computer, do not
restart your computer now.
Run the Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp utility to remove the Windows Installer registry settings, and then reinstall your program. To do this, follow these steps:
- Download, install, and then run the Windows Installer CleanUp utility to remove the Windows Installer registry settings associated with your products installation.

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
- To use the Windows CleanUp utility, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Installer Clean Up.
- Select the program that you want to remove, and then click Remove.
- Click OK, and then click Exit.
Note Because the Windows Installer CleanUp utility removes Windows Installer related registry settings and not the program files, make sure that you install your program in the same folder where it was originally installed to prevent duplication of files on your hard disk.
If the program in question is not listed in the
Windows Installer Cleanup utility, proceed to the next section. If the Cleanup
utility successfully removed the earlier version of this program, proceed to
the "Reinstall Picture It!" section of this article.
Clean Boot Your Computer
To clean boot your computer, use the appropriate method for your
version of Windows.
Windows Millennium Edition (Me)

Windows 98 Run the System Configuration Utility (Msconfig.exe) to
perform a clean boot. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
- Click the General tab.
Click Selective Startup, and then click to clear the following check boxes: - Process Config.sys File
- Process Autoexec.bat File
- Process Winstart.bat File (if available)
- Process Win.ini File
- Load Startup Group Items
- Click OK. When you are prompted to restart the computer, do so.

Note To restore your original startup configuration, rerun the System
Configuration Utility (Msconfig.exe), click the
General tab, and then click
Normal Startup.
Windows XP- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type msconfig, and
then click OK.
- Click the General tab, click Selective Startup, and then click to
clear the following check boxes:
- Process SYSTEM.INI file
- Process WIN.INI file
- Load Startup Items
- Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft
Services check box, and then click Disable All.
- Click OK, and then click Restart to restart the computer.
Note To restore the computer to use a typical startup, on the General tab, in the System Configuration Utility, click Normal
Startup - load all device drivers and services, click OK, and then click Restart to restart the computer.
Reinstall the Program
Insert the first disc into your CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive. If
Setup starts automatically, follow the instructions on the screen to install
the program.
Note Do not use Minimal installation options.
If the Setup program does
not start automatically, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type cd-rom:\setup.exe in the Open box.
In this example, cd-rom is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM
drive. - Click OK.
- Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
We recommend that you use a Typical or Full
installation option to prevent usage issues after you install Greetings or
Picture It! If you use the Minimal installation option, the clip art may be
listed but represented by a standard icon instead of than a thumbnail image. To
gain access to the clip art, right-click the standard icon, and then insert the
appropriate CD-ROM.
