BUG: Error When You Install MDAC 2.7 After MDAC 2.6 Service Pack 2 (314755)

SYMPTOMS

If you install Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.7 after you have installed MDAC 2.6 Service Pack 2, you may receive the following error message:
Inf Install Failure. Reason: No signature file was present in the subject.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, restart the MDAC 2.7 installation after you receive the error message mentioned in the "Symptoms" section of this article.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem does not occur when you install MDAC 2.7 over MDAC 2.6 Service Pack 1 or earlier.
