SYMPTOMS

You switch between user names on a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer. When you do this, the custom button assignments that were made by a given user may be lost or changed. This problem may occur when you use any one of the pointing devices that are listed in the "Applies To" section.

Additionally, when you have a screen saver that uses a password, you may lose your custom mouse settings after the screen saver comes on and you sign into Windows. The mouse settings will not work again until after you restart the computer.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when you use the Fast User Switching feature in Windows XP to switch between user names.

To resolve this problem, obtain and install the most current version of IntelliPoint. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Fast User Switching in Windows XP allows for quick switching between users on a computer. If each user has created custom button assignments, these button assignments are lost during the switch from one user to the next. When you switch back to the original user, the custom button assignments for the original user are changed.
