SYMPTOMS

When intrusion detection is enabled and an intrusion occurs, you may not receive an alert, and an event log entry may not be generated.

CAUSE

This problem can occur when an additional condition other than "any intrusion" is selected in the Intrusion Detected alert.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain latest service pack for ISA Server 2000. For more information about the latest service pack, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, click Any intrusion in the Additional condition box when you configure the Intrusion Detected alert.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

This problem was corrected in ISA Server 2000 SP1.

ISA Server features intrusion detection, which identifies when an intrusion against your network occurs, and then completes a set of actions or alerts that you previously configured in the Intrusion Detected alert. You can use the Additional Condition setting in the Intrusion Detected alert to specify an additional condition that must be met in order for the alert to be triggered.
