SYMPTOMS

A Domain Name System (DNS) server that is behind an Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000-based server may intermittently not resolve Internet names. If you restart the DNS service, it may have no effect, but you may be able to restart the ISA services to temporarily resolve the problem. Other UDP-based services, such as Network Time Protocol (NTP), may experience similar problems.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

This problem was corrected in ISA Server 2000 SP1.
