"HTTP 500 Internal Server Error" Error Message Occurs When You Browse Your Exchange 2000 Mailbox by Using Outlook Mobile Access (313897)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use the Microsoft Outlook Mobile Access component of Microsoft Mobile Information Server to browse your Exchange 2000 Server mailbox from your mobile device, you may receive the following error message on your mobile device after you authenticate:
HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if the ISAPI filter that Mobile Information Server installed has been removed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, verify that the ISAPI filter is installed, and then verify that the ISAPI filter points to the correct location. To do so:
  1. Start the Internet Services Manager. To do so:
    1. Click Start, and then point to Programs.
    2. Click Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Services Manager.
  2. Right-click Default Web site, click Properties, and then click the ISAPI Filters tab.
The Microsoft Mobile Information Server filter should point to the Program Files\Mmis\Dmiflt.dll folder. If the filter is absent, then you must add the filter. To do so:
  1. On the ISAPI Filters tab, click Add.
  2. In the Filter Name text box type, Microsoft Mobile Information Server.

    NOTE: You do not need to type the exact name in this box. The name is used name for your information only.
  3. Click Browse, locate the Program Files\Mmis folder, and then click the Dmiflt.dll file.
  4. Click Open, and then click OK twice.
  5. Restart IIS Admin Service.
