Disable NetBIOS at the DHCP Server

To disable NetBIOS at the DHCP Server

1. Start the DHCP Manager tool, right-click Scope Option, click Configure Options, and then click the Advanced tab.
2. Under Vendor Class, click Microsoft Options. The user class should remain unchanged (as Default User Class).
3. Click to select the 001Microsoft Disable NetBIOS Option check box, and then set the date entry value to 0x2.

Configure the DHCP Client to Allow the DHCP Server to Determine NetBIOS Behavior

To configure the DHCP Client so that the DHCP Server will Determine NetBIOS Behavior, do the following:

1. From the desktop, right-click My Network Places, and then click Properties.
2. Right-click Local Area Connection, and the click Properties
3. Double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click Advanced, and then click the WINS tab.
4. Click to select Use NetBIOS setting from the DHCP server.
