Active Directory Users Cannot Log On Using Site Builder or the Web Site (313312)

SYMPTOMS

If you have enabled Active Directory authentication on Content Management Server (CMS), Active Directory users who attempt to log on to your CMS site may receive the following error messages:

From the Site Builder:
"Could not log into Microsoft Content Management Server"
From CMS forms authentication:
"Your session has timed out"
In addition, when you browse for a domain user from the Server Configuration Application (SCA) (for example, when you modify the CMS System Account), you may receive the following error message:
Extended error: [What='Failed to get NT user information.'] [LCID='1033'] [SourceFile='P:\NR\Server\ServerConfigurationAPI\INRNTDomainImpl.cpp'] [SourceFileLine='239'] [DebugInfo=''] [RecommendedAction=''] [ExtraInfo=''] [UniqueErrorId='10027'] [Severity='5'] [Source='C:\Program Files\Microsoft Content Management Server\Server\bin\ServerConfigurationAPI.dll']

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
  2. On the View menu, click Advanced Features.
  3. Right-click the domain name and click Properties.
  4. Click the Security tab and ensure that the Everyone group is listed with Read permissions.
  5. Click Advanced.
  6. Select the Everyone group and click View/Edit.
  7. In the Apply onto field, select This object and all child objects.
  8. Click OK 3 times.
