Excel crashes after you load the Analysis Toolpak - VBA add-in in Excel X for Mac (312833)

SYMPTOMS

If you load the Analysis Toolpak - VBA add-in, Excel stops responding, and you receive the following error message:
The application Microsoft Excel has unexpectedly quit.
The system and other applications have not been affected.

CAUSE

The problem may occur when the following conditions are true:
  • You click Add-Ins on the Tools menu, click to select the Analysis Toolpak - VBA check box, and then click OK.
  • A workbook that contains data is open.

WORKAROUND

To turn on the Analysis Tookpak - VBA add-in, follow these steps:
  1. Start Excel, and click OK to create a blank workbook.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Add-Ins.
  3. Click to select the Analysis Toolpak - VBA check box.
  4. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
This problem does not occur in Microsoft Excel 2004.
