The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002

This article was previously published under Q312695

SYMPTOMS

When you drag a Port implementation shape onto an XLANG drawing (an .skv file), the port name is displayed with unreadable, meaningless characters. This problem occurs under the following conditions:
  • If you are using a computer that is running the Japanese versions of Microsoft Visio 2002 and Microsoft Windows 2000.

    -and-
  • If you created the XLANG drawing file with the English version of Microsoft Visio 2002.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because you selected the Always use the system default font check box in Visio 2002:
  • If you select this check box, the XLANG drawing uses the default system font.
  • If you do not select this check box, the drawing that is created with a character set other than the default system font tries to use the original character set.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem:
  1. Start a new instance of Visio 2002 (not the BizTalk Orchestration Designer).
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. On the Regional tab, click to clear the Always use the system default font check box.
  4. Quit Visio 2002.
  5. Restart Orchestration Designer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002.
