ISA Firewall Client Shows Connection to Server Name Instead of IP Address (312391)

SYMPTOMS

When you manually configure the ISA Firewall client by using the TCP/IP address of the Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server computer and you click the Update Now button, the TCP/IP address of the ISA Server computer may be replaced with the name of the ISA Server computer.

RESOLUTION

This problem was corrected in Internet Security and Acceleration Server Service Pack 1.

The ISA Firewall client can be manually configured to connect to a specific ISA Server computer on your network. In the Firewall Client Options dialog box, you can type the IP address or the name of the ISA Server computer you want to use in the Use this ISA Server box. When you click Update Now, a connection is established to the ISA Server computer you specified. Under certain circumstances, you may want to specify the IP address of the computer and not the server name. After you type the IP address and click Update Now, the IP address is replaced with the machine name.
