SYMPTOMS

When you use the Paste link option to paste a right-to-left worksheet with drawing elements from Excel 2002 into Word 2002, the drawing elements are in the wrong position. Their position is calculated left-to right, not right-to-left.

This behavior is visible on the printout when you use the Paste link option, and it is visible on the screen when you paste as Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps when you copy your Excel worksheet into Word:
  1. On the Edit menu in Word, click Paste Special, and then click Paste link.
  2. Click Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object, and then click OK.
  3. Before you print, select the object and then break the link by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+F9.
  4. After printing, undo the unlinking. To do this, click Undo on the Edit menu, or press CTRL+Z.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
