OL2000: You Receive an "Invalid Page Fault" Error Message When You Start Outlook (312352)

SYMPTOMS

When you start Outlook, you may receive one of the following error messages:
Outlook caused an Invalid Page Fault in module Outex.dll.
Outlook caused an Invalid Page Fault in module Omipst9.dll.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, rename the Outex.dll, Omipst9.dll, and Frmcache.dat files, and then run the Office repair utility to repair Outlook:
  1. On the taskbar, click Start, point to Search, and then click For Files or Folders.
  2. In the Search for files or folders named box, type outex.dll, and then click Search Now.
  3. Under Search Results, right-click the Outex.dll file, and then click Rename.
  4. Type Outex.old, and then press ENTER.
  5. Use the procedure in steps 2 to 4 to rename the Omipst9.dll file to Omipst9.old, and the Frmcache.dat file to Frmcache.old.
  6. On the taskbar, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  7. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  8. Click Microsoft Office, and then click Add/Remove.
  9. Click Repair Office, and then click Next.
  10. Click Detect and Repair errors in my Office installation, and then click Install.
  11. When the repair process is finished, click OK.
  12. Close any dialog boxes that are open, and then restart the computer.
