Text in Visio 2002 drawings is printed with incorrect characters (312301)

SYMPTOMS

When you print a drawing in Microsoft Visio, the text in the drawing may not be printed correctly. The text may be printed as square boxes, asterisks, commas, or parentheses.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the printer driver that is installed for your printer is damaged or outdated. This behavior is reported to occur with the following printers:
  • Lexmark Z32 Color Jetprinter.
  • Lexmark J650

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, remove your existing printer driver, and then download and install the latest version of the printer driver available for your printer. To do this, follow these steps:

NOTE: If you are using a third-party driver provided by your printer manufacturer instead of a driver included with you Microsoft Windows operating system, follow the instructions provided by your printer manufacturer to remove the printer driver.
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
  2. Right-click the printer that you want to remove, and then click Delete.
  3. When you receive a message that asks whether you want to delete the printer, click Yes.
  4. Download and install the latest driver for your printer. Contact your printer manufacturer to inquire about how to obtain and install the most current driver for your printer.
