MacPPTX: Slide Show Runs More Slowly Than in Earlier Versions (312249)

When you view a slide show in Microsoft PowerPoint X for Mac, the transition from one slide to the next takes longer than it does in Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Mac. This issue is likely to occur with slides that have many drawing objects on them.
CAUSE
This issue occurs when you are using the Mac OS X operating system. PowerPoint X uses the internal drawing engine native to Mac OS X; PowerPoint 2001 does not use the internal drawing engine. This difference is more noticeable when the slide contains multiple vector-based images.
A vector-based image is one that uses drawing commands to draw lines and curves and designate filled and non-filled regions of the image. It may contain bitmap information, but it is primarily vector information.

- Enhanced Windows Metafile (EMF)
- Encapsulated PostScript (EPS)
- Macintosh Picture (PICT)
