MacWDX: Printing a Word X Document with Border Art Takes Longer Than Expected (312229)

When you use a PostScript printer or ink-jet printer to print a Microsoft Word X document that contains certain types of border art, the pages with the border art may take considerably longer to be printed than they would if you were using a QuickDraw compatible printer.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if you use any of the striped or multilined border art, the "wavy line" border art, or the shaded band border art as a paragraph, page, or table border.
To render these borders consistently, Word uses small pictures that are placed end to end to create the border effect that you see. When you print to a PostScript or ink-jet printer, such as the Deskjet line from Hewlett-Packard, it takes a long time for the page to spool to the printer and be printed. This is because the printer driver must process each small picture in the line separately. The more borders, the longer it takes to process all the line images.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use the basic, (single) line styles.
