MacWDX: Word Quits When You Click AutoText, AutoCorrect, or Cancel (312208)

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Word X for Mac may unexpectedly quit when you do one of the following actions:
  • You click AutoText on the AutoText toolbar.
  • You click AutoCorrect on the Tools menu.
  • You click Cancel in the AutoCorrect dialog box.

CAUSE

This issue occurs when both the following conditions are true:
  • You click Cancel in the AutoCorrect dialog box before you do any of the actions described in the "Symptoms" section of this article.
  • When you start your computer, you log on manually.

WORKAROUND

To workaround this behavior, follow these steps:
  1. On the Apple menu, click System Preferences.
  2. Click Login.
  3. On the Login Window tab, click to check the Automatically log in check box, type your name and password, and then click Save.
  4. On the Apple menu, click Restart.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
