MacWDX: Nothing Happens When You Try to Type in the "Mark Index Entry" or "Mark Table of Contents Entry" Dialog Box (312206)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use either the Mark Index Entry (COMMAND+ALT+SHIFT+X) or Mark Table of Contents Entry (COMMAND+ALT+SHIFT+O) dialog box, the pointer does not appear by default in any of the available fields in the dialog box. If you start to type before you manually position the pointer in one of the fields, any data that you type does not appear, and you must retype it.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use either of the following methods:
  • Press the TAB key repeatedly until the pointer appears inside the field in which you want to type.

    -or-
  • Click outside of the Mark Index Entry or Mark Table of Contents Entry dialog box, and then click the field in which you want to type.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
