PRB: The User Name and Password Are Displayed When You View the Source Code (310963)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2002
  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 SP1
  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2000

This article was previously published under Q310963

SYMPTOMS

When you are running a report from the Business desk, the user name and the password are displayed when you view the source code.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because if you use OLAP over HTTP or HTTPS, a user name and a password must be transmitted to the client so that they can authenticate to the server.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

To work around this behavior, you can set up anonymous access for OLAP over HTTP.

To minimize the risk, it is recommended that you create a new user and give that user the minimum permissions possible to access the OLAP server.
