The Outlook Categories Do Not Match the Palm Pilot Categories (310785)

SYMPTOMS

After you synchronize your PalmPilot handheld computer with Outlook 2000, the categories that you set up on your PalmPilot are not displayed in the Categories dialog box in Outlook 2000.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because of how you map your PalmPilot categories to Outlook 2000 categories.

There are two ways to map PalmPilot categories to Outlook 2000 categories:
  • Map the PalmPilot category to an Outlook category field.
  • Map the PalmPilot category to a user-defined Palm category field in Outlook.
If you map a PalmPilot category to the user-defined Palm category field, Outlook does not display the PalmPilot category in the Categories dialog box.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Programs, click PocketMirror, click PocketMirror Settings, and then click Settings.
  2. Double-click your user name.
  3. Double-click Microsoft Outlook Contacts.
  4. Click Miscellaneous, and then click Map Palm categories to Microsoft Outlook's 'categories' field."
