WD2002: The Small Capital Formatting Is Removed When You Save a Word 2002 Document (310313)

SYMPTOMS

If the Disable features introduced: after Microsoft Word 97 check box is selected when you save a document in Word 2002, the small capital formatting is removed in the document.

To verify if the Disable features introduced after: Microsoft Word 97 check box is selected:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Save tab.
  2. Look to see if the Disable features introduced after: Microsoft Word 97 check box is selected.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office XP. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The English version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the General tab, and then click Web Options.
  3. On the Browser tab, click to clear the Disable features not supported by these browsers check box, and then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Office XP Service Pack Service Pack (SP-2).
